PERSONAL STATEMENT
From my extensive travel, I bring my global experience into the classroom. Having so many nationalities in class is a great teaching tool in French and Humanities. Being a non-native speaker myself (and today fully bilingual) I can easily relate to students who are in the process of acquiring a second or even third language, and I have managed over the years to build strategies to help them in their learning. Native speakers of my classroom are active participants in helping non-native speakers access the curriculum.

As Head of Grade, I oversaw the pastoral care of students from Grade 8. This involved working with students from many cultures and with very diverse needs. In addition to record keeping for attendance and punctuality, I planned and delivered weekly assemblies, and individually counseled students on both behavioral and academic issues. I was the first point of contact for parents and liaison between students, teachers and parents. I took all my students in groups on social excursions such as bowling and ice-skating to encourage peer and student-to-teacher bonding.
I was also co-director of the school’s Model United Nations (MUN) programme. This involved weekly meetings with groups of students in preparation for conferences held internationally. I then organised the logistics and accompanied these students to conferences in Paris, The Hague, Dublin, Bath and Berlin.
As a Grade level manager, I coordinated the AOI's for grade 8. I was actively involved in the short and long term planning of the curriculum with my colleagues in Humanities and French using our school Atlas program and I enjoyed working collaboratively on this task.
In both departments, I planned and organized day field trips and week field trips in France linked to our curriculum and other departments, including a day excursion to Normandy for Geography, French and History and a cross-curricular week excursion in the Auvergne region, introducing the Middle Years Program to students and teachers. In addition, I encouraged the use of Paris as a local learning resource, such as a tour of French Revolutionary sites. I am an inventive, adaptable teacher, with excellent communication and team-working skills.
With my experience as a school leader, I am very confident in planning and managing field trips and extra curriculum activities. As a Humanitarian Project director, I have been concerned especially with the CAS program (Community, Action and Service) - See Humanitarian Project page
At Utahloy International School of Guangzhou
As a classroom teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach Humanities in the MYP program and History in the Diploma Program, through the medium of French and English. I am solely responsible for creating the curriculum and resources for all six of my classes in French.
I also had the opportunity to be get Managebac training.
My teaching skills are strong. From my past experiences in France, in the United States and in China, I would be able to teach to the high standards expected by your school. I challenge my students academically, selecting diverse and complex topics; I support my students pastorally, offering reliable structures and a safe classroom environment. I want my students to outperform their own expectations, and provide the framework to allow them to succeed.
